Adult Group Tennis Lessons at Bayview Village Camp
Our adult group tennis lessons at Bayview Village Tennis Camp give players across North York and Toronto the opportunity to improve their game in a structured, social setting. Whether you are a complete beginner stepping onto the court for the first time or an experienced player looking to sharpen your technique, our group tennis classes are built around personalised coaching that meets you at your level. Based at 30 Elkhorn Dr in the heart of Bayview Village — just steps from Bayview Avenue, Sheppard Avenue, and the East Don Parklands — our tennis programs in North York make it easy for adults from Willowdale, Don Mills, and the wider M2K area to access quality tennis instruction without a long commute.
Our 8-week adult tennis program runs from spring through fall with a 4:1 student-to-coach ratio, ensuring each player receives focused feedback during every session. Coaches carefully match players into groups of similar ability, so adult beginners train alongside other beginners and intermediate players work with peers at their level. This small group format encourages consistent rally practice, doubles play, and strategic match-play development while keeping sessions energising and sociable. Adults travelling from Finch Avenue, York Mills, Leslie Street, or Bayview Station on Line 4 find our evening and weekend scheduling fits comfortably around work and family commitments.
Every session is led by OTA certified coaches using the proven development methodology that Director Peter Nielsen has refined over more than 40 years of tennis coaching excellence. Technical fundamentals, stroke correction, footwork drills, and match-ready tactics are all covered progressively so your game improves week to week rather than session to session. The small group dynamic creates natural opportunities for doubles positioning practice, serve-and-return drills, and building connections with fellow tennis players in the Bayview Village and North York community. If you are also interested in faster, one-on-one progress, our private tennis lessons are available 7 days a week as a complement to your group training.
Whether you want to stay active, learn tennis as an adult, or take your existing skills to a competitive level, our adult tennis coaching program delivers results in a supportive environment. With three seasonal rounds running from late April through early October, there is always a convenient entry point to begin. Adults across North York, Scarborough, and the Greater Toronto Area choose our group tennis lessons for the combination of professional instruction, flexible scheduling, and a welcoming club atmosphere that keeps them coming back season after season. Get in touch with our team at 905-889-7293 to find out which group suits your level, or visit our website to explore upcoming session dates.

Frequently asked questions
What Skill Level Do I Need to Join Adult Group Lessons?
No prior tennis experience is required. Our adult tennis classes welcome complete beginners alongside intermediate and advanced players. Coaches assess each participant and match you into a group with others at a similar ability level, so you always train at the right intensity for your current stage of development.
How Are Adult Tennis Groups Organised?
Our coaches use a skill-matching system to place players into groups of four. This ensures balanced, productive sessions where everyone benefits from drills and match play suited to their level. If you want to join with friends or family, include all names in your waiver form and we will try to group you together, provided skill levels are compatible.
What Does an 8-Week Tennis Program Include?
Each session covers technical stroke development, footwork drills, rally consistency, serve-and-return practice, and strategic match play. Coaches build on the previous week’s work so your skills develop progressively. By the end of 8 weeks, most players see noticeable improvement in their control, consistency, and confidence during competitive play and match situations.
When Are Evening and Weekend Sessions Held?
Weekday evening adult tennis lessons run Monday through Friday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Weekend morning group tennis classes are available Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. These flexible scheduling options make it practical for adults near Bayview Village, Willowdale, and the Sheppard Avenue corridor to fit tennis into busy work and family routines.
Is Adult Group Tennis Good for Fitness?
Tennis is one of the most effective full-body workouts available. Our group lessons develop cardiovascular endurance, agility, balance, hand-eye coordination, and lower body strength through dynamic court movement. Adults near the East Don Parklands and North York area also benefit from the mental focus and stress relief that structured tennis training provides each week.
How Is Your Coaching Team Qualified?
Our team is led by Director Peter Nielsen, a National Senior Champion and former Tennis Canada National Coach with over 40 years of experience. All coaches hold OTA certification or equivalent professional credentials. This depth of expertise is a key reason adults from Don Valley Village, Lansing, and across North York choose our adult tennis coaching programme.
Can I Switch to Private Lessons Later?
Yes. Many adult players combine group tennis lessons with private one-on-one coaching to accelerate specific areas of their game. Private and semi-private sessions are available 7 days a week and can be scheduled alongside your group programme for a well-rounded training approach.
What Should I Bring to My First Lesson?
Bring a tennis racquet, comfortable athletic clothing, non-marking court shoes, a water bottle, and sun protection for outdoor play. If you do not own a racquet yet, our coaches can advise on sizing and recommend options that suit adult beginners or returning players looking to upgrade their equipment.
Do I Need a Membership Before Joining?
Yes, a lessons-only adult membership is required before joining any programme at Bayview Village Tennis Camp. This membership covers the season and provides access to the club grounds for all scheduled lesson times. Visit our memberships page for current details and options for the 2026 season.
